| Elbow · Surgery · Left |
| Feb 1, 2027 |
Weyrich reveals that Povich had pitched through significant discomfort down the stretch of the regular season, and the decision was made to have surgery. It's a relatively minor operation as far as elbow surgeries go, and the Orioles anticipate Povich being ready to roll for spring training. The lefty held a 4.38 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 28:15 K:BB across 37 innings at the major-league level in 2026. Assuming health, he's likely in line to compete for a spot in the Orioles' rotation in 2027. |

Caleb Durbin3B · Oct 11Finger · Surgery · Left · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 11 | Out | Finger · Surgery · Left | Feb 1, 2027 | The 26-year-old dealt with a dislocated pinkie over the summer, but he played through the injury and never went on the injured list. Durbin struggled early in 2026 but bounced back with a .738 OPS during the second half, resulting in a .248/.332/.378 slash line with 13 homers and 20 steals in 153 regular-season games. He'll likely be fully healthy for the start of spring training since he has three-plus months to recover from the procedure. |
Garrett WhitlockRP · Oct 9Leg · Fracture · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 9 | Out | Leg · Fracture · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | Whitlock hasn't been charged with a run over his last 6.2 innings, picking up two saves, four holds and a blown save in that span. He got the save chance after the Red Sox took the lead in the eighth inning. Aroldis Chapman was deemed unavailable to due a lat issue, which the Red Sox are approaching with caution. Whitlock has thrived as a reliever this year with a 1.78 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 58:8 K:BB while adding four saves, 25 holds and four blown saves over 50.2 innings. He should be in line for more save chances if they arise before Chapman is cleared to return to the mound. |
Masataka YoshidaDH · Oct 2Hamstring · Strain · Left · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 2 | Out | Hamstring · Strain · Left | Feb 1, 2027 | Yoshida was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to the hamstring strain, with the hope he could return by early September. However, it now appears Yoshida could potentially miss the rest of the regular season. Yoshida is set to get multiple opinions and imaging done in coming days to evaluate his best course of action. |
Mickey GasperDH · Oct 2Biceps · Surgery · Right · Back Mar 1, 2027 · Oct 2 | Out | Biceps · Surgery · Right | Mar 1, 2027 | The 4-to-6 month timeline is for Gasper's return to game action, so there's a good chance he'll be held out of spring training action initially, and his availability for Opening Day isn't a given. Gasper slashed .251/.357/.466 with 10 home runs and a 27:39 BB:K over 67 games in 2026. |
Roman AnthonyLF · Oct 5Hand · Strain · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 5 | Out | Hand · Strain · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | Breslow noted that the club is still gathering information on Anthony, who suffered an aggravation and additional injuries to his right hand during Game 1 of the wild-card series versus the Yankees. However, the feeling at this time is that Anthony's injury will heal with rest. Anthony was limited to only 55 regular-season contests in 2026 because of finger and hand problems. |
Tyron GuerreroRP · Oct 2Shoulder · Strain · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 2 | Out | Shoulder · Strain · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | Guerrero missed most of September with right shoulder inflammation before returning to the active roster Sept. 20. He's now dealing with more shoulder trouble, and it's uncertain if he might be able to return in October should the Red Sox advance deep in the playoffs. Guerrero has been a reliable arm for Boston this season, posting a 3.10 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 18 holds across 40.2 innings (40 appearances). |

Dane MyersCF · Oct 2Shoulder · Surgery · Left · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 2 | Out | Shoulder · Surgery · Left | Feb 1, 2027 | Myers spent time on the injured list this season with the AC joint issue. The cleanup procedure should not affect Myers' availability for the beginning of spring training. Myers slashed .268/.352/.425 versus lefties in 2026 and should at least have a short-side platoon role with the Reds in 2027. |

Andrew WaltersRP · Sep 10Elbow · Surgery · Right · Back Feb 1, 2028 · Sep 10 | Out | Elbow · Surgery · Right | Feb 1, 2028 | Walters had right lat surgery last June, and he is now slated for another extended rehab that will rule him out until the 2028 season. The right-hander was limited to only 14 appearances in 2025 and another 14 in 2026 due to injuries. |

Brice MatthewsCF · Oct 2Knee · Inflammation · Left · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 2 | Out | Knee · Inflammation · Left | Feb 1, 2027 | Matthews injured his knee while making a diving catch during Tuesday's game against Seattle. The 24-year-old had missed most of the second half due to an injury to the same knee, so the Astros will play it safe and send him back to the injured list, ending his season early. Lucas Spence was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move. |
Cristian JavierSP · Oct 2Groin · Strain · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 2 | Out | Groin · Strain · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | Javier left his start Tuesday against Seattle after two innings due to right groin soreness, and he'll officially be shut down for the year upon receiving his diagnosis. He'll close the book on 2026 after enduring one of his least effective seasons in the majors, posting a 5.14 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 63 innings. Josh Hendrickson was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move. |
Daulton VarshoCF · Oct 2Wrist · Surgery · Left · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 2 | Out | Wrist · Surgery · Left | Feb 1, 2027 | Varsho has dealt with chronic inflammation in his wrist caused by cysts, and he opted to have those cysts removed Tuesday. The operation will prevent Varsho from being an option for the Astros during the postseason, but he should be fine in time for spring training. An impending free agent, Varsho slashed .221/.281/.355 with 12 home runs and 12 stolen bases over 140 games this season between the Blue Jays and Astros. |
Enyel De Los SantosRP · Oct 2Knee · Tendinitis · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 2 | Out | Knee · Tendinitis · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | De Los Santos gave up two runs over two innings during his appearance Friday and now appears to have picked up an injury in the process. His trip to the injured list will rule him out for the rest of the regular season, so he'll finish the campaign with a 4.79 ERA and 1.25 WHIP through 71.1 innings. Logan VanWey was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move. |

Steven CruzRP · Sep 29Personal · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Sep 29 | Out | Personal | Feb 1, 2027 | By rule, Cruz will miss the next 1-to-3 games while welcoming a new baby, so he should be back for Sunday's season finale, at minimum. Cruz has registered three of the past four saves for the Royals, which includes his eighth save of the season in Wednesday's win over the White Sox. While Cruz is away, the Royals could turn to Nate Pearson for save chances. |

Jakob MarseeCF · Oct 12Elbow · Surgery · Left · Back Apr 1, 2027 · Oct 12 | Out | Elbow · Surgery · Left | Apr 1, 2027 | After playing with some discomfort down the stretch of the regular season, Marsee had his elbow examined before opting for surgery. He is expected to be game-ready in six months, putting his status for Opening Day in question. Marsee put together a .231/.348/.359 batting line with 11 home runs and 23 stolen bases this season for the Marlins. |

Walker JenkinsCF · Oct 1Elbow · Surgery · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 1 | Out | Elbow · Surgery · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | The procedure involved a debridement of the joint, as well as the removal of a bone chip and bone spur. Jenkins is expected to be ready to go for the beginning of spring training. The 21-year-old outfielder went 4-for-45 in his first 16 games for the Twins this season but closed the year with a 1.015 OPS and three home runs over his final 10 contests. Jenkins should enter the 2027 campaign as one of the team's starting outfielders. |
Seattle Mariners | ||||

Cal RaleighC · Oct 5Shoulder · Surgery · Left · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 5 | Out | Shoulder · Surgery · Left | Feb 1, 2027 | He is expected to be fully recovered from the operation by the beginning of spring training. It's unclear how much the shoulder issue might have affected him, but Raleigh experienced a massive downturn in production from his historic 2025 season to 2026, dipping 284 points in OPS (.948 to .664) and dropping from 60 home runs to 23 long balls. With health, Raleigh should bounce back to some degree in 2027. |
Josh Naylor1B · Oct 5Wrist · Surgery · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 5 | Out | Wrist · Surgery · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | Naylor first hurt his wrist in early August, and he went homerless in his final 41 games after the injury. The Mariners anticipate Naylor being fully recovered before the start of spring training. Naylor will be looking to bounce back offensively for Seattle in 2027 after finishing with just a .667 OPS and 10 long balls this season, though he kept his fantasy value afloat by stealing 30 bases for the second year in a row. |
Michael Toglia1B · Oct 2Shoulder · Surgery · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 2 | Out | Shoulder · Surgery · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | Toglia is recovering from late August surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, but the Mariners felt he was worthy of a waiver claim even though he'll spend the next few months rehabbing. The 28-year-old was dreadful in limited action for the Reds in 2026, going 3-for-26 with 12 strikeouts. |

Hunter DobbinsSP · Sep 29Elbow · Surgery · Right · Back Sep 1, 2027 · Sep 29 | Out | Elbow · Surgery · Right | Sep 1, 2027 | Dobbins was placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 22 with right forearm discomfort, but after he received a second opinion on the arm Tuesday, he opted to undergo elbow surgery. The 27-year-old has now undergone two procedures on his right elbow in his young career, and he may be forced to miss the entirety of the 2027 campaign while recovering. Dobbins made 11 appearances, including eight starts, with St. Louis this season, posting a 3.67 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 52 strikeouts over 54 innings. |
Masyn WinnSS · Sep 26Thumb · Soreness · Left · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Sep 26 | Out | Thumb · Soreness · Left | Feb 1, 2027 | Winn will ride the pine for Sunday's series finale after going a combined 1-for-7 through the first two games against the Nationals. Thomas Saggese will play shortstop and bat sixth for the Cardinals. |
Tampa Bay Rays | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
Shane McClanahanSP · Oct 11Forearm · Soreness · Left · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 11 | Out | Forearm · Soreness · Left | Feb 1, 2027 | It would have been a great story for the left-hander to rejoin the Rays during their playoff run after going down with forearm soreness in early September, but it's not a major surprise he's been ruled out given that there's been no indication he's close to game ready. McClanahan also spent time on the IL earlier in the season due to a back issue, limiting him to 24 starts. He posted a 3.36 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 106:39 K:BB across 118 innings this season and is entering his penultimate year of arbitration eligibility in 2027. |
Texas Rangers | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
Corey SeagerSS · Oct 9Elbow · Surgery · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 9 | Out | Elbow · Surgery · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young noted following the conclusion of the regular season that Seager could require an operation after battling through the elbow issue for months, and that's indeed what's happened. While the Rangers might ease Seager into things at the start of spring training, he should be fine for Opening Day. The 32-year-old shortstop had arguably his worst season in 2026, slashing .227/.312/.424 with 20 home runs in 102 tilts. |
Danny JansenC · Oct 9Hand · Surgery · Right · Back Feb 1, 2027 · Oct 9 | Out | Hand · Surgery · Right | Feb 1, 2027 | It's a minor operation that's not expected to affect Jansen's offseason workouts. Jansen slashed .203/.296/.381 with eight home runs over 67 games for the Rangers this season. As things stand currently, the 31-year-old Jansen seems likely to open the 2027 campaign as the Rangers' top catcher. |
